*Regarding Readiness Assessments: All
eligible* students require this assessment whether entering grade one from our
kindergartens, or as new students to the school. These assessments are
conducted in-house by our teachers or a specialist in the subject.  The
assessment observations are used to understand the preparedness of the student for
the transition, and to aid both the parents and teacher in responding to each
student’s unique needs and capacities.  The short assessments are often
experienced by the children as a series of brief and amusing activities and
games. A fee applies.

*Regarding Grade One Eligibility
at Trillium Waldorf School:  Students are eligible to enter the grade one class beginning
September 2012, if they will turn 6 years old by this coming June 30^{th , 2012.}
In our school, it is uncommon for students to be placed in a grade ahead
or behind the one determined by their birthdate.

Sue Martin, is a graduate of the Waldorf Teacher Education Program, Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto. She worked at the Toronto Waldorf School in the Early Childhood programs for almost twenty years. She is a graduate of the Gradalis Institute for Remedial Training, which specializes in working with children seven years of age and under. She was the on-site co-ordinator for the HEART program in its first year and returns in that capacity again, as well as joining the teaching staff. Currently, she maintains a private practise helping children with sensory and developmental difficulties and is a mentor and evaluator for Waldorf teachers. Sue also trained and worked as a registered nurse for several years.  Sue has delivered several informative talks at Trillium Waldorf School and is invariably appreciated by her audiences.
